| Barb Chapin and the Deer Ridge CA had a vision to enhance the playground and Yellow Slide Park with a wonderful Shade/Picnic Shelter. The Deer Ridge CA started planning the Shelter project prior to the “COVID-19” years. When prices escalated and deliveries were extended, the Deer Ridge CA waited for the market to stabilize before proceeding. We partnered with the City of Calgary to manage the construction of this Picnic Shade Shelter. The shelter is a wonderful addition to Yellow Slide Park and adds a covered Picnic area to the Park and the playground. We need to thank Peter Demong – Councilor for Ward 14-for your letter of support of the shelter project. Myles McDougall -MLA for Calgary Fish Creek and Brooklyn Bauerlein -Assistant to the MLA-Calgary-Fish Creek, for your letter of support and for attending the Shelter Grand Opening Ceremony. Foothills Soccer- for your letter of support for the shelter project. From the City of Calgary for your in-kind support and project management. John Merriman Pam Taylor Joan Macdonald Lisa Pichurski- Neighbourhood Partnership Coordinator and the CA’s Liaison with the City of Calgary. BDI for their construction of the Shelter. From the Deer Ridge CA Barb Chapin, Angela Zieglar, Ed Stolar, Don Burdeyney, Kim Aurini, Gertud VanDerMey, Lanis Anderson, the Deer Ridge Board of Directors and the community of Deer Ridge for the support, for the work on this project, and the continued volunteering in the community of Deer Ridge. Krista for baking the spectacular cake and cupcakes for the celebration. Audra and Yoshimi for bringing the two T-Rexes to the ceremony. Thank you all for your support, expertise, and assistance in the planning, construction, and the opening celebration of the Deer Ridge Picnic/Shade Shelter. The community of Deer Ridge will enjoy this picnic shelter in Yellow Slide Park for many years to come. |
Annual General Meeting
We are excited to invite you to attend the Deer Ridge Community Association Annual General Meeting! This is a great opportunity to add your voice to the discussion and present new ideas. Would you like to volunteer as a Board member? Residents of Deer Ridge with current membership are eligible to vote in-person.

Location: Fish Creek United Church ( 77 Deerpoint Road SE), in the gym (hallway to the left).
